Google+ Cave Food Kitchen: Chocolate Power Smoothie

Chocolate Power Smoothie

Today was a day of experimenting, i tend to have a few smoothies weekly for breakfast, and usually they contain dairy (full fat yogurt or Greek yogurt) and fruit. But this time i wanted to go low-carb & low-dairy, so what do you use? I tried the following:

2 cups of almond milk
1 scoop of protein powder (ok, in my case it was whey, so not Paleo, you can also use hemp protein powder)
2 tsp cocoa powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp almond butter
macadamias
2 tsp Sukrin
1 tbsp chia seeds

Blend it all at high speed, done! Handy trick; if you wait for about 1 min and blend again, the chia seeds will form a thicker substance, so the smoothie won't be as watery anymore.
Still working my thoughts around the sugar substitutes, i read a lot about Stevia, so that might be next.

Wondering where it is? Barely had a chance to take the pic ;-)

  1. have you gotten into coconut milk yet? its amazing in smoothies and completely dairy and added-sugar free. most store-bought almond milks have added sugars. seriously though, coconut milk smoothies are AMAZING!
